Curriculum Introduction
We want our children to be able to articulate themselves, be fluent readers and capable writers and be able to solve mathematical calculations. These areas of learning underpin all that we do and the greater part of the curriculum time is spent on ensuring that these skills are taught to your child.
Our ambitious 7-year curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and is designed to develop and embed our vision and values. Our curriculum is organised into the school terms with units of work, genres and books chosen to suit the time of year, local or national events and, where relevant, a thematic approach.
The content for this learning comes from the Department of Education and is taken from the National Curriculum.

Reception
This area builds on their learning from pre-school or nursery and develops the child's language skills and play-based learning.
Throughout this time, there is a key focus on reading, writing, number and speaking and learning. Alongside this, there is a focus on developing social skills and learning to be part of a community.
We use a scheme called Read, Write Inc and this helps to teach the children the sounds of our alphabet and the letter names. Please see the phonics section for more detail on this.
